Ann Arbor-based Online Therapy (for Michigan Residents)

About My Clients:

You're trying to give what you didn’t get. Maybe you feel or unreliable in your parenting -- why is it so hard to do some days, or with certain ages?

You wonder, did I miss the window for having an impact on my kids? Will they only remember our bad times? Will I get to feel like a self again?

You yearn for another voice, another presence that is unbiased & trustworthy, to help you process & give room to all the swirling hurt & uncertainty.

You want a consistent, steady feeling, and self trust.

My Personal Beliefs:

I believe there's no success too small to celebrate. I believe that you have everything you need within yourself-- you just might need some help seeing it, accessing it, and activating it.

At the same time, I believe we're all fundamentally wired for connection, and that it's profoundly okay to both need and ask for support.

I believe there are many sources of wisdom in the world and throughout history, and that there are some deep imbalances in terms of who has been allowed to hold power, write history, and construct society.

I believe that none of what has happened to you is your fault, but I want to work with you to connect to every available source of power (within and around you) to make sure you are equipped to do whatever your "next right things" might be.

Fees

Transparency is very important to me! Below, you will find my current fees for counseling services, effective March 1, 2024.
I do not currently accept insurance, for a number of reasons. These involve enhanced quality of care and other advantages:

• You are in control of your care, including choosing your therapist, length of treatment, etc.
• Increased privacy and confidentiality (except for limits of confidentiality).
• Not having a mental health disorder diagnosis on your medical record.
• Consulting with me on non-psychiatric issues that are important to you that aren’t billable by insurance, such as learning how to cope with life changes, gaining more effective communication techniques for your relationships, increasing personal insight, and developing healthy new skills.

If you are unable to afford the current fee, please contact me to discuss possible options.

Individual Counseling: $200 per 50-minute session

I take IvyPay for payments, which is a HIPAA-secure app that lets clients pay for sessions using credit, debit, or HSA/FSA cards. I ask that if they use an HSA/FSA card via IvyPay, clients please put a non-HSA/FSA card on file through SimplePractice, which is also kept secure.

Good Faith Estimate

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises
